Date: June 18, 2022
Time: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM EDT
Event Description:

IN CELEBRATION OF BRUNEL PARK'S FOUR-YEAR ANNIVERSARY, THE FRIENDS OF BRUNEL PARK INVITE YOU TO JOIN ALLAN MADAHBEE, OJIBWE ARTIST AND MUSICIAN FOR A PERFORMANCE CELEBRATING THE SUMMER SOLSTICE, AN INTERACTIVE FLUTE-MAKING WORKSHOP, AND A FIRE DRUMMING CEREMONY FEATURING ALLAN AND SPECIAL GUEST PERFORMERS FROM SPIRIT OF THUNDERHEART.

We are excited to welcome our community back to Brunel Park to spend a day with Allan Madahbee. At 10 am, Allan will explain the legend of the flute, and will demonstrate and play the Court flute, Branch flute, and his handmade reproductions of ancient flutes dating back 900 years. At 1 PM, participants will encounter a variety of flutes, examine their construction, and listen to the soothing sounds of these beautiful instruments. Allan will also discuss the significance and meaning of the Summer Solstice in Native cultural traditions and practice.  In addition, we are incredibly honored to welcome back Spirit of Thunderheart who, at 3PM, will perform their songs, dancing, and drumming to re-awaken ancient rhythms resonating with power and joy!
