Take this opportunity to meet the new Ulster BOCES Superintendent, Dr. Jonah Schenker at the Chamber Breakfast Meeting on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at The Venue Uptown at the Best Western Plus Kingston from 7:30 - 9:00 am.
Dr. Schenker will discuss the strategy to meet Ulster County’s current and future workforce needs and more. Earning a four-year degree is not the only way to contribute to a vibrant economy. Redefining the pathways and definitions of success for students is vital. For these pathways to be successful, students need to emerge from the K-12 system with the skills and experiences that colleges and employers desire.
Dr. Schenker will also talk about how Ulster BOCES is uniquely positioned to be the conduit that connects K-12 education, post-secondary education, and workforce leaders pulling them all in the same direction forward. The shift in perceptions about working in manufacturing or the trades has to begin with elementary students, not starting these discussions at the end of their education.
Dr, Schenker is a native of Ulster County and a veteran educator, has 21 years of educational experience, and has been a part of Ulster BOCES since 2010. He serves a dual role as the state education commissioner’s representative for the eight local component school districts in the Ulster BOCES region and as chief executive officer of Ulster BOCES.
Chamber Breakfast Meetings are a great way to network with other local business leaders and stay on top of current events.
Registration is required. $30 Members (Advance Pay); $35 Members (At the Door); $40 Non-Members.
