The Board of Directors of The United Way of Ulster County is thrilled to announce the selection of Stephanie Kearns as our new President and Chief Executive Officer.

"From our first conversation with Stephanie, we were immediately impressed by her and knew she was exactly what the United Way of Ulster County needed. Her extensive background in the nonprofit sector, specifically her ability to identify and implement effective programming, paired with her personal passion for our community, is a perfect match to our core mission." —Emily Glass DeGasperis, United Way of Ulster County Board of Directors Chair

As a long-serving advocate for strengthening communities for every family and an active member of Ulster County, we were certain that Stephanie’s goals aligned with United Way’s mission that every individual in Ulster County deserves the right to have programs and services available to help them achieve their greatest potential.

In the nonprofit sector for over fifteen years, Stephanie worked with children and family-focused organizations with strong community missions. Most recently she served as the Chief Operating Officer at a dual school and community center in the heart of Chinatown, NYC. Before that, she was the Vice President of Business Operations for The New York Foundling, one of the largest and oldest human service organizations in NYC. Throughout her loyal tenure at each organization, she has managed 30+ person teams with budgets at 130M and worked in tandem with partner organizations to further increase visibility and response to people’s needs.

Stephanie’s skills are uniquely poised for the United Way of Ulster County. From valuable business development to nonprofit expertise, Stephanie is a devoted, team-oriented leader with a keen interest in streamlining established nonprofits so they can do what they do best—nurture their local communities.

“I’m enthusiastic about my new appointment to serve the people of Ulster County through the United Way. It’s not only a beloved organization, but is strongly positioned to be a hub where people can come together, united, to care for one another and improve the lives of friends and neighbors.”

In addition to her career, she has served on various nonprofit and government boards, consulted for fledgling nonprofits and schools, and led parent education and childcare counseling. A part of the Ulster County community since 2013, she has been raising two curious and philanthropic children.

Stephanie Kearns began her position in late May 2024.
